What does art bring to you?
I have been immersed into drawings since I was a child. I grew up and build myself through this mode of expression. Throughout the years, art has become an integral part of my personality. A vessel through which I can unconsciously convey my emotions. My art is a cathartic experience that allows me to move forward in my evolution. I am a daydreamer by nature. Through my creative process and the realm of the imaginary, the child in me lives on.
One thing I really love about art is discovering the parallel universe behind each artist’s creations, delve into their ideas and share with them their passion. For me, art is essential as it conveys strong and important messages and translates our society while enabling each of us to interpret it however we may.
What artwork would you like to see in real life?
I hope to one day have the chance to stand face to face with Pablo Picasso’s « Guernica » at the Reina Sophia museum in Madrid. This artwork created in 1937 and that I discovered during my high school years was my first meeting with modern art. I was fascinated by its chaotic and denunciatory take on the bombings of the small Basque village of Guernica in Spain during World War II. Through this painting, Picasso inscribes the dark side of humanity in the collective consciousness. I aspire to feel very small in front of this timeless chef d’oeuvre.
What are your inspirations ?
My inspirations have no bounds. I am inspired by an eclectic choice of music, human stupidity, urban art, anime, architecture, sculptures, trips and different cultures, religion and spirituality, togetherness, Mauritian history, the diversity of our origins, eroticism, corporal expression and of course, my wife and my daily life.
What are your dreams ?
I dream of a gathering of multidisciplinary artists, of an exchange of ideas in the local creative community. I would also love for art to become more accessible. More present in villages, in schools and in healthcare institutions.
I also dream of creating giant artworks on roundabouts, have a PS5 and get my driver’s licence haha!
