MERMARTIST
What does your art bring to you?
I’ve been drawing and painting since I was a child. I can’t imagine expressing myself without art. From time to time, I need to deliver my emotions through abstract and line drawings. It relaxes my mind and soul from my daily busy life. It is a part of me. A number of my artworks reflect marine life featuring sea creatures and life-giving air bubbling to the oceans as I’m fascinated by these. Art brings out the child in me who believes in fantasies thus my artist name is Mermartist (Clin d’œil à Ariel).
What artwork would you like to see in real life?
Michelangelo has always been an inspiration to me. Both his sculptures and paintings are known. Someday I would love to visit the Sistine Chapel and just lay flat on the floor and stare at the ceiling for hours. In my opinion, those High Renaissance arts are just authentic. I would also like to see another work of his that is the original David, the masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture. I have seen the replica at V&A museum, which demonstrates profound skill and ingenuity of the cast makers and captures the condition of the original marble as it was in 1847, but I would love to see the original marble statue, which is a work of perfection.
What are your inspirations?
I am inspired by everything around me; emotions, people, animals; particularly, inspiration linked to nature with a strong accent on sea life.
What are your dreams?
My dream is to have my own art exhibition one day. An exhibition, which would be wholly based on Fantasy World. I am very fascinated by marine life and its creatures. So I would like to depict that on this solo exhibition of mine.
