What does your art bring to you?
My art brings me peace and clarity as it is the most healthy way I found to express myself. It helps me get rid of my cluttered thoughts and feelings but also channels my overflowing adrenaline. Every time I draw or paint, I experience feelings of security, freedom and comfort, being the master of my own art. I created my own comfort zone and safe space where I do whatever I want on my own terms.
What artwork would you like to see in real life?
I would love to see Kara Walker’s pieces, particularly one named ”The moral arc of history ideally bends towards justice but just as soon as not curves back around toward barbarism, sadism, and unrestrained chaos”. She tackles subjects such as racism, slavery, sexism and racial identity. Her explorations of race and gender as well slavery in the United States resonated with our own Mauritian colonial history. For me, her artworks represent a powerful and healthy creative outlet for the suffering endured by minorities throughout the years.
What are your inspirations?
What are your dreams?
I want to say that I have a cautious approach to life and I’m becoming the person I want to be and living the life I want to live. This is already a dream come true. But if I must choose one, it would be to have my solo exhibition one day.
