What does your art bring to you?

I would say that my art brings me an escape, a chance to express myself in my own way.

My art feels like a form of therapy, sometimes uncomfortable and difficult to create, but most days feels like a cleanser for my spirit. Photography is like watching a movie and narrating it at the same time, who wouldn’t love that privilege.

What artwork would you like to see in real life?

Any of Henry Moore’s sculptures. Sculpting to me seems like such an interesting form of art and his work is the best example of it in my opinion.

What are your inspirations?

I have a very long list of people, experiences and things that inspire me. My favourite would be a photographer named Lyra Aoko and of course nature.

There’s a quote I love by Pablo Picasso that says, ‘Good artists borrow, great artists, steal. I would say that as a photographer I steal from my experiences to create art.

What are your dreams?

I dream of a world where all creative jobs are considered ‘real jobs’, where artists are not squished into a box and forced to create work that sells, but rather work that moves them, where the exploitation of artists is no longer common and artists understand & can articulate their worth.

What is your favourite quote?

‘When you try a shoe and it doesn’t fit, you don’t blame your feet. You go find a shoe that fits!’

As humans, we often blame ourselves for not being able to fit-in in some environments, but the blame should not lie on ourselves.
